Rosy Mound Natural Area, Grand Haven

About three total miles of paths that are a mix of crushed gravel, stairs, and wooden boardwalks. It's only 0.7 miles from the parking to the beach on the most direct route, but there are stairs. Beautiful hikes through pine groves, dunes with scrub grass, and forests. Several overlooks along the paths and numerous benches for a break or just to enjoy the scenery. Very nice and modern bathroom facilities at the parking lot. More primitive pit-style outhouses near the beach. There is a daily fee of $8 per car for parking that is well worth it in my opinion. A lovely gem of a park.

The Rosy Mound Natural Area is one of the typical Michigan Lakeshore Dune areas. From the spacy parking lot with restrooms, extremely good maintained walkways are leading the guests to the beach. There are ca. 360 steps on the way so it's not accessible for wheelchair and/or walking impaired people. A lot of benches on the way and beautiful viewpoints make the walk quite easy. Walking through the dunes and at the beach is awesome. Especially how clean the nature is - first time since my time in the US that I haven’t seen any garbage in it. The whole distance is around 2 miles, so in a relaxed way to explore in around 2 hours. We will come back in the summer to explore how swimming will be. Overall an very nice activity in west Michigan.

Very nice! Great park to explore nature. We visited on a cool Fall afternoon and only saw a handful of people. Well maintained trails that open to the lake. Also a loop that goes through a section of tall pine trees. Be prepared to climb steps to get to the lake. Highly recommend!

Beautiful spot. Quick and easy. Stairs get super icy after a little sun. Biggest negative is that they don't allow dogs. The posted list of rules is longer than the iTunes user agreement.

Lovely public park. There is a path through a pine forest, one that lets in dappled light, the kind of forest where you look around and realize how easy it would be to get lost there without a guide. A great place for a hike or a run.
