  • The hike to the overlook was pretty easy. The views are stunning. There was a sign stating that climbing down the dune isn't advised and causes damage to the dune, so we didn't attempt it.

  • Very busy in Town and the Campground due to the Music Festival, avoided both. My wife hunted for Agates, I hiked the Dunes, perfect Weekend.

  • Amazing spot. It's a short but steep hike. It's quite literally a breathtaking hike due to the slope. At the same time, you are also treated to some breathtaking views once you reach the top of the dune. The water is turquoise colored. We did not hike down the dunes after reading the warning signs. It is almost like a vertical drop. Must visit spot if you are travelling through H-58.
  • Amazing views! It started to rain right as we pulled in. Everyone else in the parking lot left. Decided to throw on our rain jackets go anyway. So glad we did. Rain let up and the views were breathtaking. I can only imagine how much more amazing it is on a sunny day. Don't get too close to the edge as sand gives way very easily. The hike starts out easy but gets much more difficult at the dune.
  • Great place to see the steep drop down into Superior below. Running down is fun. Climbing up is not so fun. Signs warn that it can take up to an hour (or more) to get out from the bottom. Didn't quite take that long, but the fine nature of the sand makes it difficult to get any sort of momentum going uphill.
  • My family all did the run & jump down to the water - super fun. Three of my kids did it multiple times! The climb back up was hard but not too hard for my 7 year old. Stunning view and unique experience.
  • As part of Pictured Rock National Lakeshore, this is a must stop. As I shared in a few area reviews, we've been coming to this area on and off for over 40 years. I can tell you going down takes maybe a minute or two, but coming back up has taken longer and longer over the years. One time we were there when they were practicing rescue for folks who ran into problems getting back up. The log slide is something that never gets old and the view of the dunes and Au Sable Light Station is just magnificent.
