Nice find in the woods of Maine. This 'rescue' park features only animals found in Maine -- and it's incredible. Ok - except the peacocks... For one - most of the animals have ample room to roam...

This is a great spot for people of all ages. The zoo is easily navigated and has a moose. I've never seen one before and was really excited to finally get to. Some of the smaller enclosures didn't seem to be ideal for the animals, but you have to appreciate the state of Maine caring for animals that would not make it out in the wild. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Great way to kill 2-3 hours, for a fantastic price. Everyone on site was very friendly and helpful. We were here in mid october so a couple of the exhibits were closed due to the season but everyone else showed up! I only had one suggestion to staff, and that is to let you know in the park before the long walk to the bottom of the fish ladder that you need quarters to feed the fish. Our daughter loved this part and we didn't have enough with us. Other than that, bring your quarters and have fun!

This place is a tremendous find! We paid $10 each to get in and were up CLOSE to Byron their bull moose and their 2 black bears. They have wolves, beaver, a fisher cat, lynx and big cats, owls, eagles, turtles, deer, snakes, peacocks, and turkeys! You're able to go at your own pace and volunteer docents are available to provide personalized information. It's obvious that everyone there really enjoys what they do, and the wildlife are well kept. I'm sure they would prefer to be outside of cages, but as a sanctuary the animals are primarily rescues that can't safely be let back into the wild, so this is the next best thing. We loved our time there.

We brought three kids 1, 2, and 3 years old. They loved it! The picnic area was really nice. Many of the animals were hiding or sleeping because it was hot. Walking all the way to the fish thing wasn't really worth it just because it's so far just to see a kinda weird bowl of fish.

Just the absolute best park ever. They upgraded the food barn to now have salads, wraps, and sandwiches (PB and J for kids too). Ice cream, drinks, and various snacks n candy as they have always had. Quick visits are nice and you can see the whole park in about an hour, or really long visits to just touch base with all the buildings and really take in the beauty and viewing of the animals. Bring quarters to feed the fish 😁
