Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail
Set within the Great Smoky Mountains, Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a one-way drivable trail that grants great views of the mountain park as well as the famous Roaring Fork waterfall. The waterfall gets its name from the loud roar that echoes between the mountains after a large amount of rainfall. If you want to stretch your legs and get away from the car, you will find an abundance of trails for all abilities throughout the park. If you're interested in all things ornithological, you will want to keep an eye out for the 240-odd species of birds that inhabit the park. Beautiful scenery and a very peaceful drive for sure! Plenty of photo spots, and so cool just riding through with the windows down. We didn't get to see any bears, but did hear some people talking about one after we had gone through, but we did get to see some wolves and other wild life. Plus got some great photos.

Beautiful waterfalls, and creek views, cliffs rising up from the ground, forest views, and bears! We saw nearly a dozen bears when we went. There are a few pull off spots to walk around and take in the sights and sounds of nature. A couple of trailheads if you're interested. And one outhouse style shelter to use the restroom. It took us about 90 minutes to drive through. But could have been longer or shorter based off how many times you stop and how long you stop. Wonderful experience.
-
Wow, just wow. This is a tour where you can chill and enjoy the view from your car and/ or you could get off and interact with nature including scenic waterfalls and wildlife (bear). It's fully wooded so no sun and peaceful. We did this during the day when we didn't want to venture in the sun and enjoyed every bit of it. We got off several spots to enjoy the water and had lots of fun.

Highly recommend! One of the most accessible and unknown areas in Gatlinburg. Makes you feel like you're in a different world. There are plenty of sights from the road and several trails that lead off also. Check this out for sure.

I’ve been coming to Gatlinburg for years and recently found out about this hidden trail. If you love nature, it’s enjoyable! You can ride through with your windows down or if you like to explore there’s several pull offs with views, creeks and old buildings.
