Explore one of the county's most unusual landscapes at Goblin Valley State Park. The 1,479 ha (3,654 acre) area is known for its thousands of hoodoos and hoodoo rocks--mushroom-shaped formations known locally as "goblins." You can explore the Mars-like landscape via one of its three marked hiking trails or admire it from one of the viewpoints. Bear in mind that the park is in a desert with little shade, so dress accordingly. Plan to see Goblin Valley State Park and other attractions that appeal to you using our Green River trip site.

  • Really unique, but there was only one sight, the main park itself. You can walk up to the 'goblins' and take photos with them, climb them, not much else.

  • Goblin Valley State Park is a great place to go visit in the middle of nowhere in Utah. It has a great camping facility that is well kept up and allows for showering, flushing toilets, and an area to eat (with fire pit) and setup your tent. First time there and enjoyed the campsite and the little bit of exploring we did on some of the trails. The weather is hot in July so plan to do the hikes in the evening and early morning is best. It is also a dark sky area so if the night is clear, you get a great view of the stars. I would recommend a visit and if you are not as keen to camping in a tent there are Yurt options available but book ahead as they fill up.
  • This was a wonderful park to visit, not to busy and the kids enjoyed it. I do have kids that don't mind hiking. Hiked to the Goblin's Lair. Definitely recommend this hike. Kids enjoyed the caves. Easy hiking, hardest part is climbing down in to the caves. My 8 and 10 years old did it by themselves.
  • A hidden gem I only knew about because a coworker mentioned it! There was barely anyone there. Buy a pass beforehand—national park pass won’t cover the entrance fee as it is a Utah state park. We went on a hot Tuesday afternoon in the middle of July. Got lucky with cloud coverage but definitely bring LOTS of water and sunscreen. It’s very humid and the sun is relentless when it’s out. The hoodoos in the valley are so strange and unfamiliar, it’s like you step foot onto an alien world. We hiked the Goblin’s Lair and ended up rock climbing to get to the slot canyon. It was the coolest hike I’ve ever done. Watch out for cairns and footsteps, the trail wasn’t marked very well at times. The area is also known to have dark skies for stargazing so I imagine it would be a fun place to camp! Highly recommend you check this park out.
  • Really unique place. Feels like you're on another planet. Turns out they shot the movie Galaxy Quest here. Makes sense. Head down into the valley and take as long as you need exploring the different rock formations. We spent about 2 hours here.
  • Yes, the $20 entrance fee is so worth it. Reserve a camping spot so you have sufficient time to explore all the cool places. Camping reservations include the entrance fee. We hiked to Goblins Lair, a super cool cavern. We also hiked the Entrada Trail, which follows a wash (almost like a mini slot canyon in places) with interesting patterns and salt deposits on the walls. Once we tucked in for the night we turned on "Galaxy Quest" which was filmed here back in 1999. We went mid-March. I would not go in the summer.
