  • It was $30 per car to enter the National Park. The pass is valid for three days of park access. The various falls were flowing less this time, in December, than there were during our previous trip.....  more

  • We were there on a very rainy day and didn't get the hype. Because of the heavy rains it was just a raging torrent of brown water. Nothing that I would describe as beautiful, and the vegetation along....  more

  • The pools are wonderful, but the view from the coastline is even better! Powerful waves crashing ocean spray all around, so refreshing after your hike up Pipiwai, and really cuts through the humidity. We weren't allowed to swim in the pools when we went in April, but honestly the water looked a little gross by the time it had come all the way down the mountain.
  • You know. One of the better Gulchs I've seen. Our Gulch of the day during our trip for sure. A nice spot to look out onto. Can get a bit windy in the area so, be careful. A nice place to stop by fairly quickly or hang for a fit. The area isn't lacking for pretty overlooks though. Pretty cool, lots of water. The area hikes here are nice as well so I'd stick around and do the other hike too.
  • This is the iconic place to visit in Maui, with the arch bridge over the waterfalls. However, it seems swimming has been permanently banned as there is now fencing separating the trail from the falls and pools below the road and bridge. Be prepared to encounter a lot of people here, even though the road from Hana is even narrower and more dangerous than the Hana Highway. This is part of Haleakala National Park, so it requires an entrance fee. There is a loop trail suitable for most, and a two mile trail to the upper falls. Despite the challenges, it is worth a visit.
  • Second time here. Weather was great. Easy walk to the viewpoint for the pools. No longer can people swim in the pools do to deaths. When you buy the $30 ticket to enter park it is good for 3 days in a row.
  • It has Pretty hike, takes around 50min up and down. Bamboo trees and waterfalls are so beautiful. You have to pay $30 for national park permit ticket, and you can use that ticket to enter Haleakala national park too! So enjoy!
