  • To me this is the best park. It's not a far drive and close to many needs in Hamden, so your not off the beaten path. However when you are in the park, you feel as though you are in another world...

  • All the hiking routes are clearly marked with colors based on the difficulty and length. Pace yourself. We didn't enjoy it much because we didn't wear the hiking shoes, which was a big mistake.

  • Sleeping Giant State Park, a real gem in our backyard. Excellent hiking with trails that range from easy to some that are a bit difficult. beautiful views, free parking, and fresh air, what else do you need. Go out and enjoy one of our states better state parks. Oh and if you are a fishermen not a bad spot to catch and release some trout. Just added, some pictures of some of what you can see at the Sleeping Giant Park. All within 4' of where I was fishing.
  • The main trail is an easy hike perfect for young kids and dogs. The road is nicely paved and wide. If you like challenges, there are lots of harder trails. There is a tower at the top. The view is beautiful.
  • This park offers multiple trail hikings, picnic area, pavilion and much more. There is a tower trail that you can take up to the old ranger tower and multiple areas to explore. From easy hikes on the tower trail to the challenging blue blazed trail up to the head of the giant. The views are spectacular from the top and you will not be disappointed. There are maps of all the trails available at the park entrance across from Quinnipiac University.
  • Really nice trail! Good parking, if you are a Connecticut license plate, if not…. The out-of-state needs to pay… great location for a quick hike. Really rocky trail so recommend good shoes. There’s some great terrain, dogs are welcome but I do worry about the rocky trail for their paws. Was in and out within 2 hours at a nice pace and stopped to view the top views. There was a slight steep incline up. And then down it you didn’t notice the incline.
  • Sleeping Giant is a great State Park. Lovely hike. Great coverage so its very shady and cool! Hike in total if you follow the main trail is 3 miles. Its a steep hike up but an easy walk down!
