Step into the world of one of America's most beloved writers at Mark Twain Boyhood Home. The museum complex consists of several preserved historical buildings that transport you into the surroundings from which Mark Twain drew inspiration for his works. See the legendary whitewashed fence, the Becky Thatcher house, and a great collection of Twain's personal items, plus rare and early editions of his works. There is a ton of information about Samuel Clemons childhood and upbringing. I do wish they had more artifacts but I am sure those are spread out around the world. Lots of interaction for children...

It's adorable just like the rest of the town. It's a lot of fun if you're familiar with Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. The Norman Rockwell paintings are also really cool.

Absolutely a wonder to behold. I haven't been here for a decade or so but I couldn't wait to bring my own kids here to learn about Mark Twain. It was a beautiful day and the tour was leisurely and peaceful. So much to learn and such a fascinating man to learn about. We toured the whole piece from the introduction area through the final museum and it wasn't too pricey and worth every penny. There is a lot of reading or you can sit through video productions, your choice. Multiple gift shops through the tour so don't feel you have to hit the first one because there will be more and they hold similar items in each. The Norma Rockwell exhibit is at the end of the tour so make sure you leave enough time to visit it at on the second floor of the museum. They are beautiful masterpieces.

The museum manages to show very well the atmosphere in which Mark Twain grew up and trained as a man and writer. Very friendly staff, very interesting souvenir shop, atmosphere close to the reality of those times. And if the museum impressed me a lot, I can say that the town of Hannibal did it even more. I felt like I was in a Hollywood movie setting: beautiful and quiet houses, small but very attractive shops, the impressive and chic waterfront of the Mississippi River.

Very extensive self-guided walking tour spanning multiple blocks. You have access to the home and can step into the rooms to see the displays behind glass. There also were tons of plaques and videos to watch. The museum at the end was also selling original parts and pieces to Grant’s Drugstore after the 2019 remodel when I was here in the summer of 2022. Don’t skip by some of the old general stores while your downtown. Tons of great stuff to pick up there!

The town of Hannibal was so enjoyable! Rich in history and story! The city has done a remarkable job with displays and details in Sam's life. The restoration and preservation in this town is beautiful. Plan 2 hours easy to read and listen and walk around. There are steps in some areas. We will return again to this town.

This self guided tour was very fun! No rush to get through it because the tickets last ALL day! You get to experience inside their homes an the views. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Hannibal for Mark Twain.
