Havre de Grace Decoy Museum, Havre de Grace

The decoy museum was interesting to see. Ii has 2 floors. There is a elevator and they have bathrooms. They have a nice gift shop. Parking is on the side of the building. It takes 1-2 hours to go thru. They call themselves “Decoy Capital of the World”. Waterfowl decoys are a form of folk art. They are sharing the history for future generations. Group tours available.

This little museum has a LOT to tell you about the history of decoy making! I never knew there was so much that went into it, and it was really interesting to learn how hunters used the decoys too. Definitely should be on top of your to-do list if you are ever even close to the area!

Neat place to visit, has a lot of history, info and other things to see. The people than run the place are really cool too.

Well, if you never visited a Decoy Museum I would suggest visiting this one. Me and my Mom spent a night in Havre De Grace to visit the city and learn of its history and hunting is a huge part of it. So the museum isn't just about decoys but also tells a lot of the story of the local area. And the decoys on display are art. So it is a art museum and a history museum.

A true American folk art museum. While the majority of decoys were carved to support the duck hunting lifestyle they definitely are an Americana art form. When you think about duck hunting you consider only a few carvers. But if you stop to visit you will learn that the number of carvers is larger than one would realize. Don't pass this place up!
