The Steppingstone Museum is a non-profit educational and cultural institution on the Susquehanna River, northwest of Havre de Grace, Maryland, whose mission is to preserve and interpret the rural heritage of Harford County, Maryland.
The museum displays and preserves the private collection of 7,000 tools and artifacts amassed by J. Edmund Bull along with later accessions. The Bull collection was first displayed at his home, which he called Steppingstone. In 1979, the museum relocated to the former Gilman Paul property, an 18th-century farm now in Susquehanna State Park, and the museum was expanded to include demonstrations of various trades commonplace in rural America of the 19th century. Barns and farm buildings exhibit the work of broom makers, blacksmiths, stone cutters, masons, and other tradesmen.
The museum programs special events relating to 19th- and early 20th-century history.

  • Nice old farm land. Very relaxing and quiet. Walk around the old farm equipment. You are in the center of farm country.

  • Such a real hidden treasure in Harford County! Absolutely beautiful location that preserves local farm life through buildings, museum items, and living exhibits. Great place for everyone to visit!
  • It was a nice sightseeing trip. They had vendors and pumpkin painting. My 1 yr old daughter likes the puppets “Horn’s Punch and Judy Show”.
  • Loved this place! We went to the fall festival and it was perfect for us and our five year old! There was a lot to see and do such as pumpkin painting, vendors, and historic buildings and artifacts. I love the pavilion to eat lunch in and the fact that there are clean, working restrooms. I can't wait to go back here again!
  • Nice little trail at Susky State Park. Not to difficult not too easy.
  • The website states that the farm closes at 4:30 but when we arrived on a Friday at 2:30, all the buildings were closed. We drove for an hour to see some chickens in a coop.
