J Bear Tours, Homer

My wife and I have been viewing wildlife for 50 years, and have never had a better experience than our day with Chris in Lake Clark National Park. Chris is a great pilot and guide, and Ashley a great organizer and communicator. To get to see so many beautiful coastal brown bears close up in their environment was amazing. I appreciate that Chris is very respectful and knowledgeable of the bears. If you get a chance to take this tour, don't miss it!!

What a great experience, outstanding family run operation, great flight and even better tour of Lake Clarke National Park, we saw over 20 bears, some grazing some clamming, don't miss out on this experience, you would not regret it 😉

My husband and I booked a trip with them but my husband was not able to go at the last minute. Ashley(who does the bookings) was very helpful in providing a fair resolution as well as recommendations for other excursions nearby for my husband to do while I went on the tour. Chris (the pilot and guide) was very professional, knowledgeable of the terrain and wildlife, and easy going which made the trip informative and fun. After our hike and before we headed back to Homer, Chris flew us through the mountains and over the glacier for one last glance of the beautiful Lake Clark National Park.

What an incredible experience from the start. Ashley was so nice and knowledgeable about the area and in getting us prepared for our trip. Chris is an excellent guide, you can tell he loves his job. Felt safe the entire time. We got so lucky to see a mama bear with her three early spring cubs in June. She even nursed them with us looking on, from a respectable distance of course. Highly recommend this place! Thank you again Chris and Ashley!

I went on a bear tour out of Homer Alaska 4 days ago. I was blessed to be recommended “J Bear Tours” and they were fantastic. Chris, our pilot and guide was just perfect. He knew just where to go to observe the most bears. At the beginning we landed on the beach and as soon as we got out of the plane we observed at least 10 bears and cubs. We were able to get pretty close to the bears since they were more interested in feeding on clams than bothering us. After our time on the beach, Chris took us on a nice hike around the area to see more bears playing and eating among pastures and rivers-a beautiful sight. The plane flight to and fro was very picturesque and easy. Ashley, in the office was super helpful with trip preparations before and after and answering any questions that we had. What a great team.
