Set inside one of Oahu's once-vital coastal artillery installations, US Army Museum of Hawaii provides a military history of the islands and U.S. operations in the Asia-Pacific region. The exhibits deal with American involvement in Korea, Vietnam, and the Pacific Theater of World War II, as well as Hawaii's military tradition since ancient times. You'll find that the exhibits offer audio-visual experiences--photos, videos, and sound effects--in additional to displays of military hardware such as tanks, guns, and traditional Hawaiian feudal weapons. Don't miss the Gallery of Heroes, a special section dedicated to recipients of the Medal of Honor and other distinguished decorations. The museum is closed on Sunday and Mondays but they have some cool displays out front. I've been in there before but I'm sure it's changed a bit over the years. Can't wait to go in on Wednesday.

An interesting museum that provides a lot of historical context about the US Army and their role in past conflicts around the world. Admission is free, so it's definitely worth a visit if you are looking to kill some time while in Honolulu.

While they will be closed from March to December 2022 it still looks like a great place to compare ordinance from the Pacific campaign. Just looking at the outside exhibit is worth a quick stop.

Fun to check out for the whole family. Tons of amazing history and things to look at. Highly recommend checking this museum out while you’re here!

This is a surprising gem that is bigger than it looks. The museum is in a former gun battery that provides a great backdrop for military history displays from Hawaiian history to the Vietnam war.
