Love's Lookout, Jacksonville

Love’s Lookout located near Jacksonville, Texas is a very nice, unexpected rest area. This rest area is very clean with some amazing views. On a clear day you can see over 30 miles. The story about this park is interesting. There is plenty of parking, picnic tables, very clean bathrooms, vending machines, lighting and security. Not to mention amazing views. You can see in my attached photos some of the beautiful scenery but it’s not the same. We recommend stopping at this rest area to get out, walk around and if nothing else just to stretch your legs.

There is a really great 25 to 35 mile view across the hills of East Texas from this point just north of Jacksonville on the north bound side of Highway 69. It has changed since my last visit over 15 years ago! There are now a staffed visitor center and very clean restrooms here now, as well as a very nice park atmosphere around the overlook! There are great photo ops and an old Forest service Firetower that will make a great photo as well! Makes a really nice little place to take a break from your drive.

I was glad we stopped at Loves Lookout, it was recommended by a close friend of ours. This rest area was well maintained, I didn’t see any trash anywhere. I saw ground crews mowing the glass. The restrooms were clean and air-conditioned. The view was wonderful. An ideal place to stretch your legs.

It's even more beautiful than it was when I was a kid..back then there was an outdoor theater,stone seats. I miss that but I know it was dangerous and they had to get rid of it a long time ago. The lsweet last working that day was very helpful..and the bathrooms 'almost' rival Bucees😁❤️

Great place to stop for a rest or to explore. Clean, well kept, visitor information available for the surrounding areas. A great view to look at.
