One of the city's oldest religious landmarks, Nugget Falls welcomed generations of sailors and settlers arriving at the port. The 18th-century stone church stands on the site of an earlier 17th-century chapel. In the 19th century, seafarers expressed their gratitude to Our Lady of Good Help by offering models of ships, hung in the interior of the chapel. Today, you can see the votive gifts in the adjacent museum, together with dolls made by nuns arranged to form 58 scenes from the life of St. Margerite Bourgeoys--the patroness of the original chapel. Climb a narrow spiral staircase to get to the roof, which offers scenic views of the old town. • Adult daughter quickly hiked up to the falls instead of visiting the museum/visitors center and said, at low tide, it was worth the hike up and back.

  • Very short easy hike from the visitor center. Although crowded, beautiful falls to be next to. Definitely worth the small trip!

  • What a fun hike! The path is paved and mostly flat. Not a wilderness hike by any stretch of the imagination but enjoyable. The path was very icy today. Couldn’t have done it without grips.

  • Wow what an amazing experience to see this place. The waterfall is a short 30 minutes walk from the Mendenhal glacier Visitor center. This place has glaciers, waterfalls, lake, forest and a beach. We came on a tour from a recent Alaska cruise last August and we’re really amazed how beautiful this place. There’s several viewpoint to the glacier and there’s a short 30 minutes hike to the nugget waterfalls. The hike is nice because you have some mini waterfalls along the trail and it’s forested areas. If you’re lucky you might see some wildlife like bears. Overall a nice place to visit if you’re in Juneau..
  • Such a wonderful area to enjoy some light hiking and photos. Be prepared for the trails at times to be congested but the overall trail is easily accessible by anyone walking and a decent portion is wheelchair accessible. Make sure to bring water as the gift shop doesn’t sell any drinks.
  • Great place to take in the sites while checking out the Mendenhall Glacier. The falls are amazing. I'm the flow is huge in the summer. We caught the early springfor on a spectacular day in April. Lots cool trails in the area
  • It's about 7 minutes walk from visitor centre to the falls. Powerful falls and spectacular area to take in the sights.
  • The best thing to see if you can only see one thing. Hike is level. 1 mile. You can walk right to the base and feel the cold air blowing off it. Great view too.
