Protected from big waves, Turtle Bay Beach is a lesser-known spot for snorkeling. The calmness of the water allows for great visibility of the coral reefs and tropical fish below the water's surface. The public beach also offers a good chance of spotting the endangered Hawaiian green sea turtle, a highlight for many visiting the island. The resort on the beach has been used as a setting for many TV shows and films, like "Hawaii 5-0," "Full House," and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." If you work up an appetite swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing, there is a restaurant on the beach. Great little beach with clear water and lots of fish. Easy spot to walk in and snorkel. Free plentiful parking was delightful after all the chaos of north shore beaches.

Great location on the north shore. Did not see any turtles but did see a monk seal enjoying an afternoon snooze. Lots of rock between the hotel on the west and a beautiful sandy beach on the east. Parking can be a real challenge but just be patient and spots in the public parking lot will open up. It is quiet a walk to get to the sandy beach on the east. There are good restrooms as to enter the beach area on the public beach access walkway. There was a high surf advisory - strong steady wind and surf running 16 - 20 feet. Fun spot. Highly recommended.

We found this during my research of beaches to stop at on a drive around the island. It is located in the turtle bay resort, although the beach is open to the public. You do have to drive all the way through the resort to the back, just follow the signs for beach access. Then you will end up at the parking lot. It is a very large parking lot, but it was basically full when we arrived so we had to loop for a tiny bit for someone to leave to get a spot, but we arrived mid afternoon. There are restrooms and outdoor showers accessible by the beach. In the cove, there are views of the resort and of the rocks nearby. There is the bay by the resort, or you can keep walking past to a beach around the corner. There were plenty of people here enjoying their beach day. The sand is that coarse shell sand, so it isn’t soft. We thought there would be turtles but we didn’t see any. We walked around a little, and then we were off to our next stop. For us, there isn’t really a reason why you would stop here over other beaches.

This is an okay beach on the North Shore. I suppose if you’re not really accustom to visiting beaches, this is nice but there are plenty of other locations on island that are better. Still, here is not bad. Good place to swim and snorkel, especially if you have young ones. There’s a really nice trail to walk along the waterfront. There are shoreline access parking spots at Turtle Bay Resort for those not staying at the hotel but they do fill quickly, so get there early.

An absolutely beautiful place on the North Shore to relax and see some green sea turtles. On the 3 times that we visited we found it was best to visit at midday to see the green sea turtles. They come ashore to sun bake. They are amazing creatures and endangered so please look and don’t touch. You can get fined for doing so. There are also volunteers there to protect the turtles.

Great beach for turtle watching. Keep your distance. It’s not a petting zoo. Read the signs. Some people are way too close to the turtles and were warned. Parking limited so some walking along the road may be required. Rocks and coral slippery. Be careful.
