  • The Visitor Center staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The beach was beautiful with no shortage of turtles.

  • If you're looking for calmer waters and diverse landscapes & views, this is your place. An easy walk from the parking lot, opens up to beautiful waters, with lots of sandy beachfront. Shallow waters for most of this area, with smaller rocks dispersed with sand. We saw MANY sea turtles floating in the water very close to the shoreline. Not too busy. Will definitely be back.
  • We stopped on our last day on the Big Island and so glad we did. It was a nice walk to the beach after talking to the very helpful ranger. There were people, but it wasn't too crowded. Within 5 minutes we found 3 turtles relaxing on shore. It was so nice being able to hang out with them - from a respectful and safe distance. What a way to end our trip.
  • Beach was excellent! Large protected area would be good for kids and inexperienced swimmers as its waves were minimal, but its a bit rocky so swimming shoes are a good idea. Saw 5 turtles chilling in the water by the beach. Didn't check out the walking trails or other facilities on my stay, but there was a portapotty by the beach for public use.
  • What s beautiful place. There is the Fish trap lagoon close by. It was fun going there and walking around wading in the shallow water. We saw something like 7 sea turtles basking in the warm sun. We would recommend going there and explore it yourselves. There is a really nice calm sandy beach for small children. When we are next on this island, we will come back here.
  • We were recommended by a local to come to this small beach park to watch the turtles. We did see probably 10 turtles in the shallow water. You can definitely snorkel with them, in a distance. They are very nimble in water! It’s a 3-minute walk from the harbor. Plenty of parking spots.
