Stephen Leatherman, known as America's beach expert, ranked Kailua Beach Park the best beach in America in 1998. The water attracts surfers and bodysurfers to its gentle waves. The beach itself slopes slowly into the water with no coral or rock. The shallow water and slight incline make swimming easy. Take advantage of the regular trade winds and try your hand at wind and kitesurfing here. Use our Kailua holiday planner to arrange your visit to Kailua Beach Park and other attractions in Kailua.

We found this during my research of beaches to stop at on a drive around the island. The parking lot is decently sized, but it has a good turn around so there are always people coming and going. This beach and area is very beautiful, with soft white sand beaches, and turquoise waters. The ocean floor was very soft and had gentle waves. Looking up and down the beach, there were scenic views. This is a very popular place as we saw some wind/kite surfers, and loads of people relaxing and enjoying their beach day. We walked up and down and got in the ocean for a little bit. We wish we had more time to spend here. On our next visit, we will definitely be back and will be dedicating a beach day here.

5 Star beach suitable for families and surf sports. Sea, sun and sand with amenities and good parking whats not to like about this location. Washrooms for changing include outdoor showers (could do with more routine cleaning). A beautiful spot to visit and relax even if it is on the way to another location.

Soft white sand and shallow water, ideal for kids and a beautiful flat beach to walk along for a ling way. On a windy day you can be very exposed. Ideal for windsurfing sports and fun to watch. Big parking lot, washrooms with change area and outdoor shower. A great little food market down the road before you enter parking lit, including take out.

This is a beautiful, clean beach with a long amount of coastline. It's also a beach great for all ages. Parking will be full if you come too late in the afternoon. There are bathrooms, showers, and a rinse off station at the top of the sand. There's a market here also. I'd advise wearing water shoes, because once you're about 10 feet into the water, there are rocks in the sand that you can easily slip on and hurt yourself. The waves are gentle, but get stronger the farther out you go, which made it great for the windsurfers. It was great to come here and get away from the crowds of Waikiki Beach without having to drive for an hour like we did going to North Shore. It was also a great way to cool off after the Lanikai Pillbox hike.

Wonderful beach. Very peaceful if you get there early. Breathtaking views surround the beach park. Hopefully you can catch the kite surfers! So cool! There is also a little market as you turn into the access road if you want to grab snacks or sandwiches to take. Be nice!
