  • If you are Frank Lloyd Wright fan you need to visit this one! We pre-booked the tour (12.30pm) and there were only 4 people in our group. That really helped when taking pictures. Our guide Valerie did a great job explaining the history and the stories behind this house. The stories are the ones that make this house special. After we finished our tour there was another one (1.30pm) after us led by Gaines Hall and his wife Sharon also attended. I wish we had known his tour would be right after ours! If you can ask when he is giving a tour, I can’t even imagine the amount of info he can give you about this house. Btw parking is right in front of the house which is really convenient. Don’t forget to buy the booklet about the history of the house. It contains more pictures of the original furnishings than the pictures displayed inside the house. Also if you are from a foreign country let the ladies in the shop know, they place a small pin on a map if a person from a foreign country visits.
  • It's was closed. Will make reservations on line. But took lots of pictures from the outside. More houses in the neighborhood
  • Fabulous house, way ahead of it's time. The guide was great. Such a pity some of the original features have been taken out but a real credit to the craftsman who have put them back. They have done an amazing job. A real credit to Kankakee.
  • We drove down from Milwaukee to tour this lovely home. The site and grounds on the river are beautiful! Our guide Deborah was full of knowledge and stories about all of the past owners of the home. Her enthusiasm and love for the home is apparent. All staff that we met were friendly and helpful. Very nice gift shop in the old stables. The home is meticulously restored after years of deterioration, tragedies and many iterations. Being huge Frank LLoyd Wright fans, it was so heartwarming to see it back to what he envisioned. The Hickox house is visible next door, but is not open to the public.
  • The beautiful B. Harley Bradley House sits right near the edge of the Kankakee River in Kankakee, IL and the scenery is quite lovely. If you love exploring architecture, historic homes or are fascinated by the works and mind of Frank Lloyd Wright, this is a must see when visiting the area. It is Wright's First Prairie Design built in1900. His unique style always blended the natural world with his architecture. Reserve a tour online. Discover the stories of the original owners and those who followed, and learn about Wright's personal life, architecture and notoriety. Be sure to stop in the gift shop either before or after the tour. Wright's Warren Hickox House sits right next door. Although it can't be visited inside, hear just a little about its history as well. Need a place to stay? The historic Volkmann House across the street is a VRBO.
