  • Lots of animals including Deer enjoying the spring. Definitely a higher chance of a bear encounter. (we did) as plenty of scat on the trail. really amazing time...not too much sulphur smell.

  • I was here on 9/13/2020. The last 3 miles before trailhead is not easy drive, it is dirt road, but it is not terrible. Parking was opened, but it’s very limited. There are few paths to get in to devil’s kitchen. I was started from Warner Campground,it has basic bathroom at trailhead. I was walking on the boardwalk, with pine trees, redwood trees, beautiful and colorful meadows, birds singing, creek with lovely sounds, and incredible sunrise. I was hiking up and down, but the track is easy to follow, after 2.5 miles...I got to Devil’s Kitchen. Devil’s Kitchen is quite amazing, a lot of fumaroles, bubbling and steaming, very strong smell, and amazing colorful. It was getting hot when I got there, I was glad to have started very early morning. It is more remote than Bumpass Hell, so I imagine less busy and more nature, very peaceful and relaxing walk. It was so interesting to see, well worth to do it! I can’t wait to come back and hike this one again someday.
  • Underrated hot springs after a short hike.
  • For some reason, I don’t like the path to this place, but here it’s beautiful and informative and unusual.
