  • The Discovery Center is a great place to begin your visit to the wetlands. It was very cold the day I went, so people were inside taking note of all the birds visiting the feeders and raptors...

  • I really enjoyed my walk here. So peaceful and I love all the interesting facts and photos of the different species there. The building was closed, but it looks really nice inside.
  • I have been driving from Lawrence to KC for years and never knew this place was here!! We went here for a girls day outing. One of my friends uses a motorized wheelchair and she was able to use the paved trail and the gavel trail on the far north side. The area is very calm, not a lot of noise, low traffic. I plan to bring my kids here very soon. Highly recommend.
  • I am beyond amazed by this place. My only regret is never having been there before. Also not stopping at a bathroom before going here. The facilities were closed due to the holiday.
  • We really enjoyed walking in the Baker University Wetlands. We first walked the purple boardwalk trail. We saw a great blue heron, butterflies, a fish, lots of sunflowers, and many other wild flowers. There are benches spaced along the trail where you can sit and observe. Next we walked the 2.5 mile green loop trail. It circles through the larger wetland areas, both the original untouched area, and the replanted areas, and even gives a view of the Wakarusa River. My only complaint is the lack of even a porta-potty. The Discovery Center there is closed on weekends so we left between walking the purple and green trails to find a bathroom at a McDonalds a mile or so away.
  • A great place for families and kids. Actually, a great place for everyone. Walk the paths, decompress and enjoy nature. If you're a birder, it's a must see place. Be sure to check out the Discovery Center.
