When our family stepped into the world of grape growing and winemaking, we focused on one thing above all else – staying 'true to the land.' Seven years later, we are proud to offer our hand crafted, family made red, white and fruit wines, which we feel embody the essence of what the Leelanau Peninsula can provide.

While our offerings may change from year to year based on the growing season and the availability of superlative fruit, our philosophy will not. Our favorite wines from Alsace, Burgundy, Mosel and the Rhine will serve as a guide, however Verterra reflects as clearly as possible our native Leelanau County roots.

We hope that you enjoy consuming them as much as we did producing them. Cheers!

Visited on a Monday so there was no wait. Sue was a great hostess, describing our selections. 1 oz pours were 3 for $5 or 5 for $8, and you keep the glass. Bought a bottle of unlabeled Celebration.... more

We go to Traverse City every fall to go to the wineries. We always go up to the Leelanau Peninsula because they have our favorite wineries. (Blackstar and Blustone). We always add Verterra Winery.... more

This is a great little spot in Leland. The Chaos Ciders are very good! They suggested i try mixing their Blackberry with the lemonade and it was awesome. A perfect summer/fall drink! We bought a bunch to bring home. One thing to consider is a better method of serving cider, sometimes they taste as though the cans have been left open in the cooler too long. Thank you

Verterra Winery is our go-to place for great wines. Both reds and whites and exceptional, and their Tundra Ice Wine is just flat out amazing. The tasting room is relaxed and inviting, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and make you feel at home. We have also attended special events at their Ridge venue, enjoying the first-class facilities and world-class views. Verterra just knows how to do it right.

Excellent wines, and perhaps the greatest service folks we encountered in the 15 wineries we visited! Revisited Wednesday. Met Colleen---she was beyond-excellent. Verterra has still THE best wines in the midwest. We're now wine club members here, not sure what took us so long. Wish we lived closer!
