  • High banks offers a variety of recreational activities, including hikes on wide, well- maintained trails. Our group took an hour - long loop trail with an overlook of the river.

  • Great park, well run and maintained with a variety of paved, gravel, and nature trails. Bikes and dogs are each allowed on some, but not all trails. There's also a nice lake with a blind for photos but it sits too low to get much of a view. Even with full parking lots the longer trails are still sparsely populated giving you a solid chance to see some wildlife. Deer, rabbits, ducks, and turkey are all common. Fox, coyotes, owls, and eagles are around too but rare to see.
  • Great place for scenic walks, even in a very hot day we were able to easily find a shade covered walk. We did the overlook trail this time. Another favorite is dripping rock trail. This park could always use more parking but if you go deeper into the park there is more chance of securing a spot. The last time we went turkeys were crossing the path ahead of us.
  • The park is huge. We plan to go back for another hike soon. We did a fall walk loop trail that was mostly gravel path. Lots of little areas for picnics and grilling throughout the park. The winter lights in December was a nice quick walk through the woods by the nature center.
  • One of my favorite places to spend the day with my kids. Enjoyable all year around. Many trails to causally walk or run, most are paved. Super clean restrooms, shelters, playground, creek, and a zip line!
  • Lots to do and explore at the Highbanks Metro Park. We enjoy the multiple paved hiking paths for their ease and accessibility. They also have an extensive unpaved trail network to meet everyone's needs. Very dog friendly with lots of distractions like mile hills just waiting to be explored and dug.
