Founded in 1992 by “Speedy” Bill and Joyce Smith, the Museum of American Speed is dedicated to preserving, interpreting and displaying physical items significant in racing and automotive history. This museum is packed wall to wall with anything and everything geared towards auto enthusiasts! The collection is quite impressive as to how they were able to fit all the vehicles, parts, and displays in the building. Employees were extremely knowledgeable providing explanations for items inside, offering guided tours, etc. If there’s not enough in the museum for you, they’re currently expanding the building to include a plethora of new exhibits/displays!

Wow, definitely something for everyone here from the beginning of automotive history. Tons of incredible race cars from almost every type of motorsports. Lots of very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff eager to visit with you.

If you are interested in any form of racing, this is the one place to visit. Room after room, level after level, everything from classic hot rods, turn of the century race cars, dragsters, funny cars, off road, Indy cars, flathead Fords, pedal cars, bikes, toys, models, even lunchboxes and albums that used hot rodding as the theme. Plan a full 4 hours.

As my wife and I travel across country, which we do often, we try to stop at any Auto Museums we can find. Without exaggeration this one is the most mind-blowing Auto Museum I've ever been to, for a private collection. It's on the same level as the Gilmore in Michigan or the Peterson in Los Angeles. Jeff, the docent was more than fantastic. Why were we the only one to tip him?

This museum has a great selection, boasting cars from various trends and time-periods. It is absolutely massive, though (three floors), so ensure you have 4+ hours if you REALLY want to see everything.
