  • First part of hike smooth and accessible for all. A bit more vigorous climbing out of the cave. Recommend this adventure.

  • We have visited Ash Cave many times over the years and it always is beautiful no matter the time of the year. This is one of our favorite easy hikes in the Hocking Hills area. We like that the bottom path almost all the way back to the waterfall is paved and quite level. This makes it easily accessible for motorized scooters, wheelchairs and strollers. The park currently still has the one-way trail sign up however if you have mobility restrictions you can go out the same way you came back in. Otherwise the trail leads you up the stairs behind the waterfall and down the side of the hill. That complete hike gives you such a variety of scenery! Tip: when you get to the top of the stairs there’s a sign that says it’s a 2 mile hike to Cedar Falls. We have actually taken this hike it’s 4 miles round-trip and well worth it. But if you’re not up for that big of a hike still take a left and walk just a little tiny bit and you’ll be able to see the water before it flows over into the waterfall area.
  • Such a beautiful hike. I can see why it's one of the top sights in Hocking hills. Very accessible for strollers or those needing an easier walking trail. There's a paved path to the waterfall then the option to take that path back if you cannot take the more advanced path back (steep stairs and a trek in the woods). I had a double stroller and one in our party has a cane and we thought it was a very nice time
  • The is one of the easiest hikes in Hocking Hills, but it is very beautiful and memorable. Quite a bit of the trail is handicap accessible. The cave is huge and beautiful, especially if there's been enough rain for the little waterfall to be active. There is a lot of history here too, from native American camps to pioneers giving sermons and manufacturing gunpowder. The Buckeye Trail, Grandma Gatewood Trail, North Country Trail, and American Discovery Trail all overlap and pass through here as well.
  • Such a stunning area with lots of natural history. I was blown away by the size. We spent quite awhile here. The path to get to the cave was paved and easy to navigate. The waterfall was more of a trickle when we visited but it was still really cool to stand under and wade through the water underneath. It was like we had stepped onto another planet once we reached the cave.
  • We put this on our "Might as well, it's only a little bit out of the way" list of places to visit in the way back from our Florida road trip -- and Wow, was I glad we did! It's a Gorgeous place to go; our family enjoyed it even off-season in March. Beautiful waterfall and stream/river. Huuuge cliff/sorta-cave (doesn't wind and twist and turn and go deep into the earth like you might envision when you think of a cave; it's more of a Gigantic scenic overhang of rock - but Beautiful!). Plenty of different places and angles to take awesome pictures with your loved ones. Very close to another trail/attraction just up the road, in the same state park. Check it out - your family will thank you!
