This is a beautiful 1.6 mile hike that loops. The trail app we used said it was "easy" so I strapped on our 1 yr old loaded up our other daughter and we headed out! First the good, it's beautiful and there is so much history to see in this one spot. I highly recommend you get a trail guide at the place where you buy your ticket. It explains all of the historic spots along the train. There really is so much to see. Now this is not easy with small children, while the path is clear there are some seriously tight and high spots with a death defying (per my daughter) ladder at one of the highest points. Truly a feat to persevere. Overall we loved it because we survived but be prepared. Total took us just under 3 hours with the kiddos and a short lunch at the top.

DO NOT WEAR YOUR EXPENSIVE LEGGINGS!! You will be touching/rubbing against all kinds of rocks and you will ruin them. I got lucky and it was so cold I was wearing hiking pants over my leggings,I would've been bummed if they were ruined. Such a good hike! We stopped on a whim and wow, so impressed with the hike and views. The petroglyphs were meh, not sure that they are even genuine. 100% worth a stop!

In my opinion this was better than the main part of the park. It is a hidden gem, very easy to drive right by. The parking is right at the side of the road, just be on the lookout for the signs. The loop is mostly level with some ladders along the paths worn down over the last few hundred years. Really amazing petroglyphs close up and fun dwellings that you can crawl into. It is hot and exposed with no shade, I went in September and it was very sunny so water is a must. Very neat spot. Please be respectful.

Worthwhile hike outside of Santa Fe. Ruins sweeping scenery and an education about indigenous people carving out a sustainable existence here. Go in the morning for some shade in parts of this hour+ hike. Leave grandma at home.

Amazing hidden site! Right off the road and well worth the stop. Took a little over an hour to make the main loop. The views and trail was well worth it. It has some tricky parts the the path, for some of it is carved into the stone and can be rather narrow. Also some was rather steep and there were about 3 ladders you had to climb on the trail. May be more difficult if you arnt the most sturdy on the feet, but we'll worth the hike if you can make it!!
