  • A great place to take friends and visitors for a "taste" of NoCo. Gentle incline, wear sturdy shoes.

  • I've wanted to explore Devil's backbone for years and finally did. Coolest rock formation and well marked, well maintained trails for hikers, bikers and horse back. Zero trees or shade cover once on the trail, so be prepared for that. Park now charges $10 park fee due to over-use during pandemic, but honestly don't mind that, it keeps it well maintained presently and for the future. There are bathrooms and water fountains in the parking lot as well.
  • Beautiful area, easy trail. It can be crowded at times though. Dog-friendly, if on a leash. Different paths for different activities. Bathrooms in the parking area. The sun gets intense, so protect your skin and stay hydrated.
  • We love going around the Devil’s Backbone area. The rocks are so cool to look at! Our kids love going to the keyhole. It’s a fairly easy hike and all four kids have done it multiple times. Even had our family photos taken here years ago! It’s a great beginner hike with worthwhile views at top!
  • Excellent hike for both novice and advanced hikers. There is a $10 parking fee unless you have the annual pass. The trail goes well beyond the Backbone formation so it can be a short or long hike whatever you want. You can also hike all the way up to Horsetooth if you wanted.
  • This is a great time of year to hike Devils Backbone. Not too hot. Not too cold, yet. There are restrooms at trailhead. Parking costs now...$10? Trails are well marked. Dogs allowed on leash, BUT NOT when tempos are 90° and higher. It's HOT! You can keep the hike short and sweet, and just go to the keyhole (a must see), or you can go up and around the mountain. The longer version took me less than 2 hours. The rock formations are amazing!! I think it looks more like a stegasaurus than anything else. Bring water!! Enjoy!
