  • We had to be picky with our hikes since we only had 1 day to hike. I am glad that we chose Stony Man (not little Stony Man, which is a different trail). It was an easier hike, only about 1.5 miles...

  • Amazing view and a wonderful sunset to watch for if you make it in time. Plenty of space for parking.
  • Worth it, Stoney Man overlook offers a vast tall view from Skyline Drive. Take a moment on your journey through Shenandoah to sight see.
  • I came here to watch sunset. The view is wide open and you get to see plain area down the mountain. Far far away a storm was going on so the sun was mostly blocked by the dark clouds. You can see lightening struck thru the dark clouds once for a while. I would prefer watching sunset down the mountains than plains. But when night falls, lights lit up down the mountain, it can be a different scenery. Yet from here you have a perfect view of the old Stony Man lying on a side. Next time if I come, I will try to watch stars here.
  • Beautiful view of the area, mountains. If you want to see the sun set in all its glory, this is a primo spot
  • Easy hike with a big bang at the end! We parked, hiked with two small children, and were back in our cars heading down the mountain after an hour and a half. It was a Saturday, so it was a little bit busy at times. Absolutely beautiful, well marked pathways to the summit. The Overlook gave the most breathtaking panoramic view seen on the Skyline Drive. This is just the beginning of leaf-peaking season - so arrive early or buy an annual pass. Those with a pass got in very quickly. Those without a pass, were in a line of cars about a quarter of a mile long. Plan a head!
