Baltimore and Washington, DC ae approximately 90 minutes away from Cove Point, making a day trip to either city an easy addition to your vacation.

  • The lighthouse keeper's house is apparently being rented. Visiting the spot which is truly lovely makes you sigh - "well, someday". It must be great relaxing place for a weekend getaway.

  • What a nice surprise! We rented one half of the light house keeper's home. Though original, it is thoroughly updated with bathrooms on each floor, air conditioning, and modern kitchen. When rented...

  • ... IF you can catch when it is open. The hours are sparse, but the lighthouse is very picturesque. It's located at the end of a private beach community, so there is not a lot of traffic.

  • Such a beautiful place. I wish I brought a lunch to eat at the pavilion. The little museum was interesting. The person running it was a really nice guy. I'm pretty sure they aren't open everyday. So might be a good idea to check before coming. I came about 2ish on a Saturday.
  • Beautiful lighthouse and buildings, visitor center was open and had a video and information about not only Cove Point but also others in the area. Found that you can actually rent the house on the property and get access to the beach. Would recommend going down just to relax and enjoy the beauty of the park and water.
  • The days and hours are a bit limited, so be sure to check before visiting. However, definitely worth a visit. Very nice and informative staff/volunteers, great local history, and beautiful views!
  • Nice lighthouse with nice people! The person in the visitors building and tons of info on the lighthouse and it's history along with a video of the lighthouse playing. In case you don't see this elsewhere, the lighthouse is not claimable but you can step into the bottom and look up from the bottom of the stairs. Nice brows of the water too.
  • The facility had a very nice volunteer and groundskeeping staff, but the actual site was a big disappointment. The grounds are very small, and are fenced with a high chain link fence, making it feel more like a prison yard than a trip to the shore. The beach is right on the other side, but the gate is padlocked. I understand if you they don’t want to allow swimming, but a walk out to the beach would have been nice. You can’t climb the lighthouse but you can look up the steps. We were told the kids could ring the Bell but the rope was disconnected. The short film in the visitors center did give a great overview of the lighthouse’s history.
