  • This was our second visit to the Island Farm with our first visit being five years ago. This time we had our 11 year-old son with us and he loved it. This is a great place to see how life was lived....  more

  • I absolutely LOVED my time at the Island Farm. Not only is it a fantastic representation of life on the island back then, but the people that worked there were absolutely wonderful and it felt like they were family. I got to make a cloth doll and it made my whole day. They have a bunch of cool animals on the farm and it’s a historical treat. Honestly a perfect time for everyone in the family. Can’t wait to visit again.
  • Very cute and unique little spot. You learn a lot about the way of life for this old family farm, it feels like a little time capsule. Feed chickens, tour the grounds and house, blacksmithing demonstrations, and swing on a beautiful 450-500 year old tree. Worth the $10 admission for sure. Great way to reconnect with a slower pace of life.
  • Worth the visit for the gardens alone! The guides were a wealth of knowledge; almost all were friendly and accommodating of my young kids. The blacksmith was so kind to my boys, and we could tell he loved sharing his work with us! All of the buildings are explorable, but take extra care to not disturb the decorations in the family graveyard, as it is still in use.
  • Would highly suggest visiting while staying on the Outer Banks! It's family friendly and full of history. Wagon rides are available with Bob, the mule.
  • It was nice to slow down. We dressed up from the Island Farm's dress up options, fed cows and chickens, ate corn cakes and made corn husk dolls. *One star off because I was charged an entrance fee for my 3 year old*
