Sombrero Beach, Marathon

Beautiful. The views are gorgeous. Plenty of beach to e joy. The water is crystal clear. Gorgeous and clean. Plenty of trash so no excuse to leave any garbage behind. Restrooms on sight. Grills and a big park area were a bonus. Covered picnics areas. Wonderful playground. Seaweed smells sometimes depending on the season. Great place to put your kayaks in at. Mangroves across from beach have cool tunnels that lead to lakes to explore. Lots of great fishing! Tons of yellow and mangrove snapper. Beautiful beach.

Today we went to Sombrero Beach for the first time. It's a beautiful stretch of beach with white sand and clear blue water. At one end of the beach, is a rocky peninsula where several people were fishing. If you jump in the water around this area, you can also see plenty of fish swimming around the rocky reef. Just past the rocky peninsula is a dock where several people were launching their small boats and paddle boats. There isn't any cover against the sun so you will need to bring a beach umbrella. There is also a section that contains two beach volleyball courts, covered pavilions, changing rooms, and showers.

There are not many beaches in the Florida Keys but this one is definitely a jewel. It’s beautiful blue waters, sand, clean environment & bathrooms give it a definite thumbs up! There is a playground for the kiddos & pavilions to reserve for family picnics. The waking track around the park is a nice place to exercise while enjoying the view!

If you really want to enjoy the beach in the keys, this location is perfect. It’s a large beach complete with palm trees, a big play area for kids as well as areas to cook out, bike, etc. great all around family spot with SPACE, and also saw some smaller boats come to dock easily nearby

It's definitely a beautiful natural place with great amenities (picnic pavilions, bathrooms, playground, volleyball courts, etc.). However, as a beach, it is not very good. The day I visited, the water was murky, there was a lot of sargassum everywhere (probably the reason for a strong and unpleasant smell), the sand was not as fine as in other (better) beaches, and there was very limited shade (trees) close to the waterline. As for the city, they should have at least one food vendor/stand and improve the maintenance of the facilities (there were some signs of neglect).
