The Harding Home, built in 1891, was the home to Warren and Florence Harding for 30 years. They moved from their Marion home to the White House when Harding was inaugurated as the 29th President of the United States in March 1921. The home is 95 percent original in content and the collection contains more than 5,000 items, making it a gem among house museums and presidential sites. The Harding Home has been open as a museum since 1926. The Harding Home Presidential Site, Marion Technical College, and the Ohio History Connection are in the midst of a project called Harding 2020. This project includes the full restoration of the Harding Home, grounds, Press House, and the construction of the Warren G. Harding Presidential Library and Museum. The project will be completed in 2020, the 100th anniversary of Harding's front porch campaign and presidential election.By using our Marion road trip planning tool, you can arrange your visit to Warren G. Great historical experience to see how the president lived back in the 1920s. Great frame of reference for kids to learn about living history.

Two years ago we had a tour with a former teacher whose name escapes us . He is no longer working there and our recent tour was nowhere near as interesting as before! How disappointing!

Was such a beautiful museum! Very grand! And the house is adorable. You learn a lot from the video in the museum and reading about them and seeing their memorabilia. John is a very good guide!

WE are on a mission to visit as many Presidential sites as we can. This particular weekend June 18th - 20th (2021) we visited 4 presidential sites in Ohio. Our first stop was Marion Ohio and the home and Presidential museum/ library of Warren G Harding. The museum/library was just brand new and fresh. The home has just completed a remodeling. The grounds, home and buildings all looked spectacular. The home was modest and the front porch historic. I loved learning about each president and their home life. President Harding often played horse shoes in the back. They also had a separate building for the press. President Harding was the first President that women could vote for. His burial monument is very large. You can walk around but not inside. You can see inside the metal gates. We were on a tight schedule so did not spend as much time as I would have liked. When you visit , take your time. it is a charming little town.

The newly restored home is definitely a sight to see and visit. It is absolutely astonishing to learn just how much work was put into the project to restore the home to it's 1920 appearance. As for the newly built library/museum it is definitely a view changer and does a great job at bringing to light the accomplishments of President Harding that are often forgotten or overlooked due to the scandals that came to light after his death.

Well kept history celebrating President Harding. Felt like you are going back in time when the world was so simple. Nice experience

My husband and I are on a journey to see each home of the Presidents from Ohio. Today we came to Warren Harding’s home. It is rich in history and intrigue. Some things that you may have read or heard can neither be confirmed or denied. We found it interesting to know that the Harding’s were not “well-to-do, but made the important things count. You will notice the statues throughout the house made from Italian Marble. It was important to Florence Harding to have nice things where they could and cut corners elsewhere to be able to afford them. There are a few stained glass windows throughout the house and in one of them has 17 Buckeyes on the perimeter. These Buckeyes represent Ohio being the 17th state of the Union. If you go make a note of the “no pictures inside the house” rule and try to stay on the grey carpeted walkway. There are many interesting stories that go with the “Front Porch” campaign that Harding ran and other Ohio Presidents had done similar campaigns. Chris was our tour guide and he spent lots of time answering questions from people of all ages. Very knowledgeable young man. There is a picture from the museum looking at the house. I didn’t know until the tour that it was originally painted red. Next to the pictures of the home are pictures of the resting place of President and Mrs. Harding. You cannot get close to the inscription on the wall, but if you slide your hands through the wrought iron, you too can take a picture similar to ours.
