Home to over 3,500 animals, Memphis Zoo features more than 500 species spread out through more than 31 hectares (76 acres). Bring good walking shoes, because a full loop of the park's exhibits is a 3.2 km (2 mi) walk. You can visit different habitats and regions of the world and their native animals, like the African Veldt, the Crocodile Cove, the Northwest Passage, and China. Don't miss the Dragon's Lair, an area dedicated entirely to the Komodo Dragon, the world's largest lizard. Before you go, check the zoo's online schedule for information on zookeeper talks, animal encounters, and feeding sessions. Best Zoo day! Animals were active and we loved the variety of animals to see. Super fun riding on the animal themed scooters. Our grandchildren and adult children alike enjoyed our day at the zoo.

Clean, affordable, and strong focus on conservation and education. One of my favorite zoos to visit and to teach animal portrait photography.

This zoo is so fantastic. We are used to a free zoo, and this was certainly pricey. But we thought it was worth it. We got the all inclusive wristbands… and we walked with kangaroos, fed the giraffes, rode the train and rides, and splashed in the fountain. The grounds are huge (We walked 4.5 miles) —But mostly shaded. We felt it was so very clean and not crowded. 5 stars

Very nice zoo, clean and well laid out. I wish some of the enclosures were larger, though. All the animals looked healthy and well cared for. The water park for kids is large and looks like a lot of fun. We walked pretty much the entire zoo in four hours, although if all the exhibits had been active we could have spent another couple of hours.

We had so much fun! Enjoyed seeing all the beautiful animals! Spending time with each other. You definitely want to go kind of early so you can have a chance to see everything or get a membership so you can go back often to see everything at a not so rushed pace. It wasn't crowded so you got a chance to see the animals without fighting for a spot to see them.

We were in town to watch Mississippi State University play Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl and got the chance to go to the Memphis Zoo and it was very nice! The animals were all happy and active! and certainly well taken care of! There were a lot of people but buying tickets and getting to see all the animals was very easy, because the zoo is laid out and run very well. We got to watch a polar bear dance! Panda eat and eat and eat fresh bamboo! Orangutan kid swing and jump and climb until his Mom came out and slowed him down... :) and the lights - oh my goodness did they have decorative lights everywhere! My wife, our 3 kids, our uncle Barry, and me all had a great time and I highly recommend the Memphis Zoo!

Such a great zoo! We visited on a Sunday morning/early afternoon and were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't crowded. The enclosures are setup for great viewing opportunities. They offer such a wide variety of species. We spent ~4.5 hours, which included a brief stop for lunch, but none of us felt like we did too much walking due to the great layout of the zoo. I think all the exhibits were open and nearly all animals were in their enclosures. We enjoyed the sea lion show and would love to go back to see more of the shows/feedings. Our 7 yo went there most excited to see the giant pandas but left saying the kangaroos and penguins were his favorite :) The only con I can think of was the food. Many of the food/beverage places weren't operating, leaving just a few not great options. Of course we did enjoy the Dippin' Dots though, and who goes to the zoo for food anyway?
