Mesilla Plaza is the central plaza in the small town of Mesilla in far southern New Mexico. The plaza and a number of its surrounding buildings are a National Historic Landmark District, significant for its role in the transfers of power that brought first the original New Mexico Territory and later the Gadsden Purchase into United States control. The most notable building facing the plaza is the Basilica of San Albino, which has been on the plaza since its establishment in 1851. The plaza was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961.

  • We have been here many times before. The variety of shopping is very nice, hit and miss in quality and origin of items.

  • We were in our way from Tucson to Carlsbad in a road trip. The travel was somewhat boring until we arrive to Mesilla. What a surprise! This is a lovely, little, sophisticated, historical town close...

  • Beautiful, colorful, old New Mexico, warm welcoming Sunday family outing at the plaza. Live music, food, parking is a challenge but well worth it. Worst case scenario you'll walk two blocks...

  • We spent a couple of hours here on a Sunday morning before everything started. Church service was in progress and they had loud speaking broadcasting the service into the plaza where people can participate outdoor. Walked around the plaza filled with history. Wish we had more time to enjoy a meal at one of those restaurants there.
  • Great spot to spend a day out by just walking around this historic plaza, it has different types of stores, restaurants, cafes, sweets, tea, gift shops, bookstore, gallery.... U may be able to find some really nice and unique items.
  • Had some time to spend so I went to Old Mesilla. I got some tea at the tea shop and went to confession and mass at the old church. I highly recommend both. I visited the parish bookstore and found they have a grotto in back with a statue of Mary, and they are installing a colundarium next to the grotto. The area is pleasent to walk around with plenty of shops and restaurants. Across the main road is a place that sells dried 🌶 among other things. I didn't stop there today and don't remember the name, unfortunately. But the red chilli sauce we made from their chillies turned out very well. The building looks like it's out of the old west complete with dirt floors.
  • Wonderful place. You can walk and enjoy the nice stores are around and go to one of the nice restaurants are there La Posta, Double Eagle...
  • Great Place To Stop And Shop And Enjoy The Great Outdoors For A Time. Nice Place To Visit And Relax. Great Atmosphere, Wonderful Friendly Individuals Live Music To Enjoy. Small Places To Eat But Really Good Food.. Word Of Caution Parking Is Extremely Difficult And Hard To Find A Space.
