The Taube Museum of Art is an art museum in Downtown Minot, North Dakota. The museum, previously known as the Minot Art Gallery, was named after Lillian and Coleman Taube.See Taube Museum of Art and all Minot has to offer by arranging your trip with our Minot route builder site.
The organization was formed in 1970 and was initially located at the Linha home on US 83. It later moved to the Ward County Historical Society at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. In 1977, the group purchased the Union National Bank Building at 2 North Main Street. The building was constructed in 1923 after a fire gutted the former building at that location. The bank operated at this location until 1963, when a new bank was built at the southeast corner of First Ave SW and First Street SW.
The museum currently has two galleries, their main gallery and a lower gallery. The museum has a gift shop, which sells painting and other artwork created by local and regional artists. The museum is open from Tuesday through Friday 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM. On September 25, 2012, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for Minot Artspace Lofts, which are being constructed across from the Taube Art Museum.

I took an art class here where a group of us got to paint portraits of our pets while being served Hors devours and wine. A fun time had by all. AND the picture didn't come out half bad either.

We have visited The Taube several times to see local artists on display. It is a small museum but very well maintained and a nice gift shop with local artists featured. Parking usually available...

What a hidden gem! My nephew's graduation party was held here or I might have missed it. Aside from the wonderful space for an event, with tables and chairs available, the beautiful well lit space let's you see the art displayed too. This was a great event space!

This building used to house The Union National Bank. It was built in 1924 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

I went through and I was able to buy pieces of local artists. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. They do ask for a donation at the door.

The Taube is Minot's only real museum of art, and it has been one of the biggest reasons I like to call Minot "home." It is easy to get involved as a member of the community through their biennial photo exhibitions and other community-submitted events. In the past, artists who win Best of Show in a community exhibition are offered solo exhibitions of their work--and this is what is so unique and special about Minot. There are very few places in the world where a budding amateur artist can have their work displayed in front of an entire city. I was offered this opportunity and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. If you live in Minot and you haven't been able to check out the Taube Museum of Art, go. Take a look at what local artists and artists from around the world bring to the community. And you know what? Go again next month, too. Because it will be an entirely different beautiful experience with new art and new stories to tell.

Nice venue which can be rented out. It also usually has an art exhibit in it.
