Create an itinerary including Dead Horse Point State Park
Imposing cliffs, geological formations, and rugged mesas define Dead Horse Point State Park. In the days of westward expansion, cowboys kept wild mustangs atop the point because it served as a natural corral. Featuring an outcropping of red rock rising 610 m (2,000 ft) above the Colorado River, the park offers more than 2,100 hectares (5,300 acres) that you can explore on foot or by bike. Bike trails cover 27 km (17 mi) along and through the canyons. Several paved footpaths offer hiking options. Keep in mind that the area's elevation of nearly 1,800 m (5,900 ft) can cause you to tire more easily than at a lower altitude. Dead Horse Point State Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.

  • Gooseneck Loop is incredible but other then that, there's not a whole to do. Canyonland is just down the road from Dead Horse and much more impressive.

  • I went to the dead horse point, and rode my recumbent mountain trike. The trails were technical on three wheels but wide enough that I had no problems fitting. We rode on the intrepid trail system...

  • Moab is overrun. Don't go. We used to be able to find a great dispersed camp site without issue. Now the place was jammed by early Thursday (this was not a holiday or event weekend).

  • A great stop and so worth the 20 $ entry fee. I did the east west rim trail which is a loop during the sunset and it was very good. Start with the west rim. The trail over a long weekend was relatively empty and peaceful, probably due to the cloud coverage. The trail has some nice look out points which are worth stopping and spending a while. I would say it is family friendly and an easy trail with barely much elevation gain but do water.
  • The view was phenomenal! We went with a bunch of friends too and we took a lot of photos. I would definitely suggest going here with the family. The views are killer! There is also biking and hiking trails that you can go on. You just need to be careful because some areas don't have any railing or stuff like that.
  • What an absolutely amazing experience and park WOW! This is an absolute must see experience for everyone, especially families. The views are just simply beautiful and amazing. Stunning views from approximately 7,000 feet make for stunning pictures that you will never forget
  • Wow. This is truly one of America's hidden gems. Grand Canyon may get most of the press, but the views offered at Dead Horse Point are nothing short of spectacular. In particular, sunrise and sunset both offer incredible photographic opportunities. The rim trails are not long, are flat and offer a variety of amazing views. If you're lucky enough to get a campsite inside the park, you'll also enjoy one of the nicest campgrounds in the country.
  • Many people come here to share the maze of red rocks and canyons. They look like the Grand Canyon only in a smaller way. The trails along the rim are short, pleasant and extremely charming, and at the same time it is extremely quiet and you can hear the wind and the birds fly. I would highly recommend
