Magnolia Cemetery is a historic city cemetery located in Mobile, Alabama. Filled with many elaborate Victorian-era monuments, it spans more than 100 acres (40 ha). It served as Mobile's primary, and almost exclusive, burial place during the 19th century. It is the final resting place for many of Mobile's 19th- and early 20th-century citizens. The cemetery is roughly bounded by Frye Street to the north, Gayle Street to the east, and Ann Street to the west. Virginia Street originally formed the southern border before the cemetery was expanded and now cuts east–west through the center of the cemetery. Magnolia contains more than 80,000 burials and remains an active, though very limited, burial site today.PutMagnolia Cemetery into our Mobile online trip builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Weird to be rating a cemetary, but here goes... Other than the military graves and Jewish section, it didn't seem to have much there of interest. Few interesting headstones, but not much else. That..... more

very nice cemetery. I wish they offered maps outside of the office for visitors after hours. it's easy to drive around on the gravel paths. There are beautiful large trees and the confederate soldier section is a nice tribute to the men who fought and died during the Civil War. Remember that they fought for what they believed in after the politicians told them they need to preserve it. Family against family, neighbors and country folks. No traitors buried here just men doing what they were told by government and dying for it - soldiers at heart.

The magnolia cemetery is a beauty. Although one typically doesn’t pay visits to cemeteries unless they have a friend or relative to visit, the tombstones and history of magnolia are simply stunning. We advise everyone to please be respectful when visiting - do not disturb those in mourning by driving quickly or blasting music. A worthy stop when visiting Mobile.

Drove a thousand miles to find the grave of a Great, Great, Great Grandfather in the Confederate section of the cemetery. Long drive, but well worth the trip. Beautiful cemetery!
-
Absolutely Beautiful! Well worth the trip. It's a must see. Come for a casual stroll and take in the peace and beauty. Wear walking shoes because this place is Huge! You will not be disappointed. Well preserved head stones, mosiliums, and monuments dating back as far as the 1800's. Drive on through and check it out!

Beautiful old and historic cemetery. Maintained reasonably well. “Confederate Rest” is especially beautiful....final resting place for numerous confederate soldiers. Very peaceful and serene.
