While there may not be much here the museum is quaint and does a good job of explaining the history of the town. The guide/staff is very kind, helpful and informative. I would recommend this museum...

Dude to the empty museum our visit was spectacular because of the attention given us by Blind Dale, who took us through the hall for an hour. If go to this museum you must ask about "Whistling Willie". Really nice collection of old equipment.

I was looking for a place to take a break along I-40, you know, one that's easy on, easy off. Well, believe me, even if it WASN'T easy to get to, it WOULD BE WORTH IT 🥇 I was amazed by what I found there! Incredible local folks who share their love for the region in tangible museumware and their own stories. Make a point to stop and hear of these tough people who helped build this country 💪

An interesting collection of railroad related artifacts and stories in a rebuilt depot. The stories are mostly told by the host as he gives you a tour. The collection and displays show how vital the railroad was to the town getting established.

This is not just a train Depot... Yes, it is packed with everything trains... Tools, models train cars, pictures etc. It also is a historical museum of everything Monterey from the beginning. We also had a guided tour, which which was very factual, but also full of human interest stories. This place is a treasure!
