Discovery Whale Watch, Monterey

Thanks for the great trip! It was amazing, not only seeing many more whales than expected but also the incredible nice crew. They were so friendly and Isaiah, the marine biologist, taught us so much about the whales and marine life in general! They even shared their professional taken pictures with us for free! Would recommend the tour to everyone who visits Monterey Bay. Stefan

Amazing trip out on the bay with Isaiah. I was a bit sceptical about seeing anything, but when we were briefed in on safety, Isaiah was so excited to tell us that they'd spotted plenty of activity on an earlier trip and we were hopefully going to do the same. He did not disappoint! His knowledge was excellent, he gave us a real insight into the nature of these beautiful creatures. Once out on the bay, we spotted so many whales! It was incredible. Isaiah told us to put our phones away and enjoy the moment - he took tons of photos that were available from him after the trip - no hard sell! I loved my Whale Watching experience and I highly recommend it!

Congrats to the captain and crew for all their hard work and effort they put into these tours, despite the weather and water conditions. Besides whales, we saw dolphins, jellyfish, sea lions and lots of birds. A lot of interesting facts were shared with us, too. All the staff are very friendly, chatty and make sure that everyone enjoys the tour. Keep it up!

I highly recommend discovery group! This was my first time whale watching but it was a fantastic experience. The naturalists were amiable and answered any wild question we had about wildlife or whales. They recognized humpback whale friendly behavior and the whales approached our boat! I’ve never experienced getting so close to a whale where you get sprayed by whale breath. The boat is smaller so it will get very rocky. Some people started getting seasick within a few minutes of the ride. I would bring Dramamine just in case. We came on Labor Day weekend so parking and traffic were especially bad. I would prepare to arrive 45 minutes prior as they recommend because they provide a safety briefing before departing.

Amazing experience! A must do if you’re in the area. Isaiah is a knowledgeable and fun guide! He knows his stuff. He can even sing! We saw so many humpback whales. One even breached quite close. Discovery Whale Watch is the best outfit on the bay. Small tours, personable staff. My 12 year old had the best time!
