This place is absolutely amazing, very well organized and put together using wonderful technology. They have done a good job telling the real truth about what was done to my ancestors. They are not giving the watered down version that modern media and books try to portray. It's so honest and real that it is also very emotional and sad. My husband and I were there for three hours and we still didn't read or watch everything. We will definitely be going back.

From enslavement to mass incarceration... Powerful and interactive! No inside photos allowed, but this is a must-see! The Legacy Museum evoked a range of emotions as I got an in-depth history lesson of my ancestors' struggles: captivity, slavery, auctioning, dehumanization, lynchings (THOUSANDS), and the continuing journey to equality today. Unfortunately, racism remains alive and unwell. This Museum isn't "just for African-Americans", as other brothers and sisters were there to learn, too. Open minds and hearts, as it should be... Seeing the past is painful, but there is hope that one day there will truly be liberty and justice for all! Prepare to spend 3-4 hours if you visit...

Absolutely haunting history but it’s so important to learn about. We spent hours here and honestly would have gone back a second time if we had more time. There is so much to read and learn. There are also multiple theaters inside with short films as well. This museum is so well put together. If there’s one thing you do in Montgomery, let it be this!

This museum is beyond a sobering reality. The truth of the past is in full contrast with the present. You must have an open mind to review all of the readings and pictures. No matter what your race is. This history must be known and only then can we move towards a comple understanding of how someone else feels. This is a must visit and I meant for everyone!

I have been multiple times and get something new every time I go. This is one of the best curated museums I have ever experienced with so much information I didn’t know. This is such a critical part of Black history in the US, and everyone should go. It’s moving, enraging, heartbreaking and so informative. The National Memorial for Peace and Justice is included in the ticket and they have a shuttle that goes between the two. The posts with the names of those who were lynched by county is astounding. A truly transformative experience.
