Black Ankle Vineyards, Mount Airy

Love this place! The people are so accommodating and there’s a ton of seating. They have space both indoors and outdoors for both large and small groups. They have a variety of wine and food options, although some are a bit pricey. It’s worth it though! You’re allowed to bring your own food and walk through the vineyards. They offer tastings before you order if you’re in between wines. It’s a great place to go with friends or family! Worth the drive from Baltimore if you want a day trip.

Wonderful hospitable setting indoor and out. While tasting the wine and enjoy picnic foods, rows of vines full of hanging grapes are visibly surrounding the main building and front and back patios., One can sensibly connect the wine in the glass with its native source. Overall, the atmosphere is so welcoming and congenial! A great place to enjoy a leisure family or friends gathering.

The best winery in Maryland. Beautiful location, with an amazing staff who are helpful and friendly. There is every type of seating for whatever you are interested in. Lawn for the family, shaded tables to enjoy the beautiful view, and a cozier space out back. Music and food trucks too. Highly recommend the rose and charcuterie box!

Beautiful setting surrounded by vineyards. But it operated more like a restaurant than a wine tasting place. For the red flight you order they were larger pours with only 3 varieties. The waitress also did not explain the wines. The wines are quite pricey ($70 for a bottle which you are really in the realm of some top reds in the world). I think it is good to come for a drink but not very good for tasting purposes to try many varieties and learn about the wines which is why I come to a winery (instead of drinking wine in the restaurant in the city ) .

Awesome place to sit back and relax. This winery is one of my favorites in the area. You don’t know it’s there unless you heard it from a friend. Friday nights have food trucks and live music.
