Floyd's City Barbershop, Mount Airy

When we was on Main Street in Mt Airy (Mayberry) I had the opportunity to get my hair cut at Floyd’s Barber Shop and in the same chair Andy used to sit in. As someone that grew up watching Andy Griffith this is one of those bucket list things I can check off. What an awesome experience. If you’re ever in the area at least stop by and enjoy the nostalgia of it all.

You should definitely step in if on Main Street in Mt. AIRY. there are so many pictures, including historic photos of men that played the part of Floyd the barber. It is set up just like the barber shop from the Andy Griffith show. You can even get a haircut. Tourists are welcome!

Absolutely loved it. I got my hair cut at this iconic location. It is the place that Andy Griffith himself got his hair cut.

I was a bit nervous stepping in with a group of 9 people... The sign on the door said that the public was welcome so I was curious. It was a really cool way to step into the past into the real Floyd's Barber Shop. Get a haircut or just listen to the cool stories about Andy Griffith's visits... I bought a mug and was really grateful for the friendliness of the barber that spoke with us. Even got a picture in the chair that Andy Griffith got his last haircut in. That was pretty cool!
