Twin Creek Crystal Mine, Mount Ida

This place is amazing! From the moment I pulled up I got a good vibe! After a neat drive through the woods, the road opened up to the mine before me and there were people already crawling over over the dig site, and sparkles all over the dirt. This was my first experience at rock hounding and let me just say that I am hooked! And I will be back. The location is great and the staff there is super kind and helpful to a new digger like myself. I found so many lovely pieces and the staff even gave me advice on how to clear my crystals. Love this place!!!

My wife and i dug two separate days (6/3/22 & 6/5/22) we did the $25 the first day to get a feel and the $100 the second day. Had a blast! Dug some great crystals. Owner David was very nice and helpful as well as his daughter who checked on us to make sure we weren't getting to hot. We will return soon!

This was our first stop on our drive from Michigan to Texas. So much fun. The road up to the mine was, well, rough for Agnes, the 20 year old suv we were in. We were able to get a few tips from a more seasoned digger and once we knew what to look for we were filling our buckets in no time. We could have dug all day it was so much fun. The weather was perfect. Just a great day all around.

This is hands down the best crystal mining you can experience in the hot springs area. It is a little farther than the bigger commercial mines like Ron Coleman. I would highly suggest driving the extra few miles for this true mining experience. They sell no crystals. It’s not a tourist trap like all the other mines with picked over crystals sold at 10x mark up. From the people to the crystals to the price it is overall better in every way compared to other mines in the area. The quality of the crystals is unreal and unlike any other. We did the $25 all day dig and got well over 50 quality quartz in just over 3 hours. All of the points and clusters we collected were extremely clear. Which was vastly different than our experience at the Ron Coleman mine. Twin creek mine was the best experience ever I very highly recommend. The worker we met his name was David and he was absolutely amazing. After seeing how much I enjoyed collecting and cleaning them he gave me several beautiful clusters and points. It made my week and definitely made the whole experience even more enjoyable. You could really tell everyone here loves what they do. It is cash only so come prepared and call their number about pricing. I’d recommend coming prepared with drinks and food and such so you can dig all day. Once you’re all the way out there it’s fairly far way from anything. Overall I highly highly recommend this crystals mine it was an amazing experience!

I can’t express how incredible this experience was. Timing was incredible. We arrived right after a rainstorm end of March. It was. Sparkle ✨ everywhere. My sister and I drove 3600 miles to Mt IDA AK to the Twin Creek Crystal Mine
