  • Interesting for those who like visiting historic cemeteries. A mix of old and new. We had a private tour from a cemetery cat.

  • Great old cemetery to walk around and learn some history in the area. But it is maintained very poorly.

  • Fascinating visit. Cemetery is well kept and a very pretty place. This was my second visit and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. If you are interested in history, this is a must visit place.

  • This is a beautiful and serene place. There is such history here. The cemetery dates back to the mid 1700's, though the headstones only date back to late 1700's. It is one of the if not the oldest cemetery in Louisiana. It sits next to Holy Cross church, behind this church is a absolutely beautiful garden with crosses set up. The area is so peaceful and really very beautiful.
  • The American Cemetery is a major Historic spot in the town of Natchitoches. It is believed to be the actual location of the original Fort St. Jean Baptiste. It is more than a cemetery. It is an historic archaeological site in it's own right. Many of the oldest graves are naturally succumbing to age and erosion. Some gravesites have already been lost to time if they were ever properly marked at all. It may be the oldest permanently occupied piece of ground in Natchitoches. That would make it the supreme "oldest of the old" ground in the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase.
  • Quiet place, cemetery after all. Worth a walk around if you are into old cemeteries. Some of the graves are badly deteriorated.
  • The final resting place of Piere Claude Metoyer
