New Market Battlefield Military Museum
Owned and operated by John M. Bracken, New Market Battlefield Military Museum offers much to see. The majority of the collection consists of items from the American Civil War. There are original items from ancient Egypt, World War II, and everything in between. And this is all the private collection of John M. Bracken. This is the most impressive Civil War museum in the state of Virginia if not the east coast, and no one leaves disappointed!Add New Market Battlefield Military Museum to your New Market travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our New Market online trip planner.

To be fair, the signs say MILITARY museum and it is at the New Market battlefield. Yes, it is something of a 'roadside attraction' and the signs might confuse those not in the sharpest part of the...

Absolutely wonderful experience! My only problem was that my friend and I didn't have enough time to make it through because we arrived late in the day. So much American history information and artifacts in this walk through tour. Small but friendly staff, including the owners. Wonderful to see his life work and to talk with them. I would like to return to go through again and to see other museums in the area.

Awesome museum! So many historical artifacts here! The New Market Battlefield Military Museum has thousands of civil war artifacts but they also have exhibits from most major American military conflicts, i.e. WWI, WWII, Vietnam and others. Conveniently located off I-81 and adjacent to the Virginia Museum of the Civil War. Definitely worth a stop if you enjoy American history and even more so if you like war weaponry; they have guns, rifles, swords, cannon, you name it. I would probably set aside at least 90 minutes for this museum. They have plenty of parking and a neat gift shop.

The absolute coolest history museum that is enjoyable. No rush, no hustle, take your time & wait till you see what they have. A private collection. Unbelievable. Our family was outstanded.

What a great place to get educated on the civil war time frame. There were guns and artifacts I had never seen before. I highly recommend this museum.

Amazing place!! A MUST see if you're in the area. Plan on at least 1 1/2 hrs. To see/read all the displays. I've been to many Civil War museums in my time (I'm 77 yrs old!) but this one takes the prize. We have a pretty good one here in Atlanta, Ga. but I liked this one better. Thank you New Market Battlefield Museum!!
