  • This is the battlefield for the Battle of New Market. It is not large, but it does not take long to understand how the battle went. This is a must for Civil War buffs.

  • Looks like a nice place, but we didn't want to pay the $10 for the museum and grounds ticket (must buy together) so we hung out on the grounds in front. Nice open space with benches and rocks. Essentially a classic rest stop for us.
  • One of the lesser known battles of the Civil War, but a site of great importance. The site is inspiring and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. This is the site of the Field of Lost Shoes and the battle where the cadets of the Virginia Military Institute were initiated into what exactly war is and the cost it brings not only to older soldiers but to young students as well. I highly recommend this site to followers of history as well as to followers of the Civil War.
  • A great stop for civil war enthusiasts. Lots of hand on experiences. The place is huge and highly recommended if you'd like to take a hiking tour too.
  • Friendly helpful staff, interesting Civil War era collections & preserved buildings. The Reenactment! Well executed! Battle of New Market was much shorter than I'd imagined. Several of the reenactors socialized with my children, giving the experience that much more depth. Disclaimer: I am not a civil war enthusiast, still this was an interesting outing for my family. I only took one picture of all the excitement.
  • Awesome! Hands down the biggest and best reenactment I've ever seen!
