Sandia Mountains, Sandia Park

This is easily one of my favorite places in the entire country. As an ABQ native, I love to enjoy the peak during the summer and in the winter. I was lucky enough to go up the tram on NYE and watch early fireworks going off around dinner time. Back in the day, it was fantastic to catch a cup of hot chocolate at the top. Highly recommend making the trip to the top if you are in New Mexico.

You'll find many different trails here, from novice to difficult. You can also take the tram all the way up or drive around the back of the mountain to the top. Perfect place for outdoors, family day, photography, meditating, bird watching, skiing, snowshoeing etc. Oh yeah, then there's the breathtaking views. You'll also find several spots on top of the mountain that are wheel chair accessible and porta jons are on site at different locations.

This is where i go if i need to get away & think. So peaceful. Relaxing. & beautiful up there. I love looking up at them everyday. And when the clouds r on them its such a beautiful sight. Best part is we can live down here with clear roads & go up there to play n the snow. My favorite place to go!

Sandia Mountains are very beautiful to look at from afar, and even more beautiful from the top. I've always been a beach person, but I'm really starting to appreciate the beauty of the mountains since being in New Mexico. My favorite place in Albuquerque by far! 🏔️

I make the trip up to the crest whenever I'm in Albuquerque. Absolutely love the view and it's a beautiful day drive to the top.
