  • It was cool to see the furnace, then hike the trail there. We did it with a 4 year old and he had no trouble.

  • The remains of a iron furnace is in Lake Hope Park. There are some old signs to read with information about the furnaces.

  • Very nice drive through through the forest and other historical things to see nearby. Moonville train tunnel and the lake is right down the road. Furnaces are right off the road and near the parking lot, so not a far walk to see them. Very informative signs explaining the history of the furnaces. I was the only person there on a Wednesday. Very cool!
  • Beautiful spot to stop and take in some history. Parking is close by and has a restroom.
  • A beautiful sight in a scenic location. The large sandstone furnace looms over the area, looking almost ancient. A wonderful place for a picnic and a taste of history.
  • Wonderful scenery and knowledge of Ohio's history.
  • Great historic (and haunted) location to stop and check out. We made this location one of our stops during our tour of the Haunted Ohio Valley, and the legend surrounding the furnace was quite interesting. We had to stop and check it out. No cell service is available here, so make sure you know your way back out or have a strong GPS signal. You can see a full review on our blog site and YouTube channel for this location.
