Manhattan's military and maritime history museum, Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum houses a large collection of craft that includes an aircraft carrier, submarine, NASA's prototype space shuttle, and a supersonic reconnaissance plane. Originally opened in 1982, the museum underwent a 22-year renovation of its facilities, reopening in 2008. You can access it by public bus or subway, and spend the day journeying through the evolution of sea, air, and space vessels. The Space Shuttle Pavilion showcases Enterprise, named after the starship from the popular "Star Trek" TV series and built to perform test flights in the atmosphere, along with artifacts, photos, audio, and films covering NASA's space shuttle program. Try your hand at flying a supersonic jet by visiting the virtual flight zone, designed with cutting-edge multi-sensory technology. The museum spaces are so clean and well kept. Well planned out and managed. Lots of staff available to answer questions. We had a really nice time and the views from the flight deck are amazing. Be sure you ride the aircraft elevator if given the chance. The space shuttle exhibit was amazing. I had no idea it was that big and the way you enter just makes you realize it quickly. Overall a great experience. Parking can be a walk so be ready for that.

Fantastic museum. Plenty to see and for kids to do. They've done an amazing job of trying to give a glimpse of the history of the ship, those that served, the conflicts and a variety of aircraft. The staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable and helpful. There is a lot of interactive games for kids and enough to keep you there for hours. I spent 5 hours here and saw just about everything on a quiet day. In fairness, I also took a lot of pictures so it would take most people a but less time. The curators have done a great job. Absolutely loved it.

I would highly recommend visiting the Intrepid museum. This is great for kids all the way up to adults. Going into the submarine was absolutely mind-blowing. Getting to see the spaceship on the upper level was also a great moment. So much history in one area. It can get very hot, so make sure you stay hydrated. I would recommend arriving early and doing the submarine first. The line can grow pretty quickly with a wait time of up to 45 minutes.

Intrepid is an amazing experience. I loved the submarine as it is very rare you can get to see inside of a submarine. The ship is well maintained and it's good to see the shuttle also. This is a place you must visit if you're in 🗽NYC because the experience is on another level. You can witness history in a raw form. The line for submarine can be long but it's worth the wait.

This museum was amazing. A lot of stuff to see, very informative, they have a whole interaction type room where you can check out a bunch of different aircrafts and things of the sorts. The tour through the submarine was impressive. Definitely worth the trip. I can't wait to come back and visit again with my children!
