The Adirondack Mountains (; a-də-RÄN-dak) form a massif in northeastern New York with boundaries that correspond roughly to those of Adirondack Park. They cover about 5,000 square miles (13,000 km2). The mountains form a roughly circular dome, about 160 miles (260 km) in diameter and about 1 mile (1,600 m) high. The current relief owes much to glaciation. There are more than 200 lakes around the mountains, including Lake George, Lake Placid, and Lake Tear of the Clouds, which is the source of the Hudson River. The Adirondack Region is also home to hundreds of mountain summits, with some reaching heights of 5,000 feet (1,500 meters) or more.

  • Nothing but spectacular! Amazing views and highly recommend going during fall foliage (late sept to early oct). Definitely plan your trip accordingly as some trails require a parking reservation...

  • An amazing nature retreat. An all year round beauty. Few hours from New York city,a great place to unwind in nature's lap
  • I've never been here but Google maps insists that I review this mountain range on the east coast. I live in California. I don't know why Google maps is so persistent that I review these mountains but I am not one to ask questions. from the photos I have seen they look very pretty and from other reviews I would say that it has good hiking trails. Will this be enough google?
  • I spent close to 4 years in the Adirondacks while active duty at Plattsburgh AFB. A very beautiful place all seasons.
  • This whole area is amazing! We visited coffee shops and restaurants. The scenery is stunning. There is so much to do and the people were mostly friendly. The lakes are beautiful and accommodating. You can stop several places along several routes to take a break, sit and have a snack, or just enjoy everything there is to offer. We saw the north pole, white face mountain, lake placid! At lake placid there are still different places where the Olympics were held lastly in 1980! Beautiful mountains and giant boulders. The ride is so scenic everywhere you look. Just make sure you get gas when you see a station. There are sometimes long stretches where you don't see any. My favorite place to visit and stay now! We're planning our vacation for next year and staying in a cabin. You won't be disappointed coming here, you might not want to leave!
  • Beautiful. Worth the drive from Waterloo, Ontario. Would recommend buying crampons elsewhere but they do have equipment! The area is just so majestic and incredible. The view on top of Mt. Marcy is breath taking. Weather is unpredictable in the fall so be very prepared and make others know where you are going. They have student discounts and discounts for members.
