Immerse yourself in maritime history at The Mariners' Museum and Park, which houses more than 30,000 authentic artifacts, works of art, and models. You can learn about the naval customs and life on board a ship, and even design your own vessel. The collection of artifacts ranges from ships' armament and equipment to decorations and navigational instruments. The museum's USS Monitor Center houses artifacts salvaged from the wreck of this innovative, Civil War ironclad. Through the collection of paintings and miniatures, you can see how ships and the sea inspired artists and craftspeople throughout the world. The museum's library at Christopher Newport University holds one of the largest collections of books and sources on maritime history on the American continent. While the museum requires an admission fee, the library is free and open to the public. This is the best time of year to visit the Mariner's Museum. We had all of the fantastic exhibits and movies to ourselves. And the best exhibits and movies focus on the Civil War ironclads. A must!

Wonderful museum! All of the exhibits are well thought out and informative. We came for the Monitor exhibit and were not disappointed. The America's Cup exhibit was fantastic as well. If you're a history buff or a Mariner, plan to spend a solid half day here. We'll be back!

This museum is a paradise for any naval or military historian, as well as for anyone that has sailed on the sea. The employees were all passionate and helpful, and there are plenty of things for kids to do, including a scavenger hunt. The museam is wonderfully curated and took about three hours to go through, and the cafe had fairly priced food and drinks.

Took my 5yr old son here on a relaxing Saturday. We had fun completing the scavenger hunt the front desk gave us. Museum only charged around $2 that day. No lines and not busy but a lot to see.

I loved this place so much I went twice during my trip to Hampton Roads. Well worth spending a couple hours here. There is something for everyone, from kids to history enthusiasts. The $1 admission was a nice surprise too, highly recommended.

Went jere to run the Noland Trail. Great trail with scenic views and challenging terrain. Great for challenging 5 mike trail run. I ran it twice since I was looking to get 20 miles in and it gave me all I could handle. Great spot!!
